Committee members are responsible for being the local representative of the Republican Party within the election district.  Committee members are responsible for voter registration efforts, circulating of nominating petitions for Republican candidates in order to secure a place on the ballot, securing volunteers to participate in poll watching on Election Day, and other activities intended to advance the interests of the Republican Party within the county. Committee members constitute the Republican party organization within their Town and are responsible for the nomination of candidates for town office, which are typically conducted by party caucus pursuant to the state election law.

Committee members also participate in the nomination of candidates for county-wide office. Voting is conducted by a weighted vote calculation, which is determined by the votes received within that election district in the last statewide election by the Republican candidate for Governor of New York.
